From SCV Eats with Lady Ducayne:https://www.santaclarita.com/blog/view.php?blog_entry_id=31256 For years, George's Bistro was a running joke among local foodies, and when I finally went to check it out last November, I realized it wasn't bad at all. I actually liked it. However, I suppose it was too little too late because as of a few months ago, the space has transformed into Olive Terrace Cafe. This new spot is advertising itself as a "Mediterranean Organic Kitchen" although most of the menu has remained the same.***attachment1***I chose to order something that was new to the menu, and the chicken kabobs seemed like a good dish to try. As I waited for my food the waiter brought me fresh bread accompanied by oil, olive tapenade, and butter. I was there for a late lunch and decided to sit outside, and as I waited, I thought about all the complaints I have heard about this place. I haven't heard anything but bad things, and I thought for sure I would be walking into a shitshow.***attachment4***Yet, it was nothing like that. I have nothing negative to say! My waiter was very nice, my food was plated beautifully, and it was such a great portion and full of flavor! They have a lovely patio, a private room for large parties, and the place is really nice inside. This place has a lot of potential, so what's going on?***attachment3***As I happily ate and thought about it some more, it occurred to me that is is hard to emerge from the shadow of a place with such a bad reputation (I'm looking at you Cuvée). Perhaps that is what is happening here. They still have the George's Bistro sign up outside, and people might not even realize there has been a change in ownership.***attachment2***So, I'm here to tell you that this place is no longer George's Bistro. There are new owners in place and they seem to be trying. Although the menu remains the same, there are some new Mediterranean inspired additions. I didn't experience any of the things I've been hearing around town. Not sure if I went at the right time (after work), or if they worked out the kinks, but I wouldn't hesitate in going back.Olive Terrace Cafe28261 Newhall Ranch RoadValencia, CA 91355
