The Child and family center is a great cause. They provide councling and resources to troubled families. Also, the Michael Hoefflin foundation is another local Non profit that provides support for Santa Clarita families with children with cancer. Both are great. Larc Ranch is another good one that interacts with children

I have all this energy since I placed my disabled son into residential care. Looking to fill in the blanks. Both my life partner and I love helping kids - especially older ones who need someone to talk to. Does anyone know of a good place to volunteer?

evitalc31 thank you! yes i agree your husband/wife should be your best friend and i totally agree on the waiting part... Im a virgin and i believe in waiting till marriage and so is this guy im talking to.. I know that if its meant to happen it will.. :) So can you tell me how you and your significant other met? :)

I am a glass half full person. Even though I had a pretty cruddy childhood, I always felt that there was always room for better.
Instead of feeling sorry for myself because my son cannot speak, see and is severely autistic, I always always felt blessed to have him. I mean, he is always laughing and smiling so why should I feel down?

While I love a true love story, it is best to have a relationship with your best friend. Developing a friendship takes time. You can most certainly be "in like" when you first meet someone but things can change in the future. I am divorced (I got married too soon) but I am not bitter. It was a learning experience.
I am in a committed relationship with my best friend of all time. Maybe that doesn't sound romantic to some. The key is time. Let the newness of the physical attraction die down. There is so much more to a relationship than the romance. I love romance but there's got to be more to it. If there isn't, the first road bump you hit... the person could bail and then feelings get hurt. Time does a few things: exposes a person for who they are, builds a solid friendship or not, and romance could bloom or not. It is easy to get caught up in the moment - the first six months could be amazing! Later, it could just fizzle. Take your time. If you spend a lot of time building a wonderful life, something could bloom without you really noticing. Remember the old saying,"good things happen to those who wait."
I hope that makes sense. While romance and love can go hand in hand, sometimes... it doesn't happen or it takes a long time before it does.
