SUMMARY:
The Network Administrator I position involves software and hardware setup, configuration, and troubleshooting. This role evaluates the condition of hardware to determine whether it should be repaired/replaced. The Administrator is able to interpret requests for assistance, document, and provide support towards resolution. The Administrator strives to facilitate a positive end user experience and solve issues within the scope of the position, escalating as needed. The Administrator supports all levels of the company. As a highly visible and trusted role, the position requires an ethical and professional demeanor, handling all responsibilities with appropriate confidentiality, tact and diplomacy. Network Administrator I is able to maintain organization and manage time efficiently to effect successful solutions in a fast paced environment.
Network Administrator I responsibilities include, but are not limited to: monitor automated network systems, document incidents, monitor/maintain system licensing, problem resolution management, review system event logs and document areas of concern, identify areas of risk and propose solutions to mitigate those risks, deployment/maintenance/optimization of all hardware/software/communication links, research and test new hardware/software solutions, and basic to more complex troubleshooting of all applications.
The scope of this position is to communicate with team members effectively, problem solving, working on projects, traveling to branch offices as needed, and other tasks as assigned. The administrator will assist in the planning and implementation of modifications to the infrastructure. This position is expected to work with the Technical Support team on projects and provide additional support. He/she is required to provide continual training and hands on experience for all team members. The administrator is expected to continue to gain skills and knowledge towards career advancement.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Citrix administration
VMWare administration
Troubleshooting network issues
AD/DNS/DHCP/IIS administration
FTP/SFTP administration
Exchange administration
SharePoint administration
Configure switches and firewalls
Creation and maintenance of documentation
Ability to facilitate end user satisfaction
Responsible for continual training and hands-on assistance to less experienced technicians
Responsible for basic to more complex troubleshooting assignments
Provide an efficient and personable experience for all users
Address all issues in a timely manner reflective of SLA standards in place
Work on assigned tasks in a productive, thorough, and organized fashion
Record all incidents in ticket system to reflect accurate representation of work
Communicate effectively with team members and users to keep all necessary parties updated with needed information
Deploy, repair, and support various hardware/software
Escalate users’ issues according to policies and priorities
Participate in IT projects
Adhere to all policies and procedures
Attend department or company-sponsored trainings or meetings, as required
Skills Required:
High school diploma or equivalent required
•Associate’s degree or higher in an Information Technology field preferred; Two years of relevant work experience in an Information Technology field may be substituted for two years of education
•IT certifications preferred (not required): A+, Network+, VCP, Microsoft MTA, CCENT, MCP, MCSA, MCSE & CCNA
•Three years experience in a customer support/service position highly preferred
•Minimum of one year in Technical Support III position
•Formal ITIL training
•Proficient in: TCP/IP addressing; IP Subnetting; DHCP configuration; Windows; Active Directory account and security administration; Common Office applications & Visio
•Working knowledge of: TCP/UPD port numbers; Switch/VLAN configuration; DNS configuration; Exchange account and mailbox administration; RAID technologies; Command line tools and scripting; ITIL
•Basic knowledge/understanding of: Firewall/VPN configuration methodologies
