  • "The Incumbency Situation" A Valencia man named Stephen Daniels is running for CIty Council to address the incumbency situation and more details on what Dennis Conn wants to do for Santa Clarita if he gets elected. Up to 12 are now confirmed or thought to be running for Council. SIGNAL
  • A motorcyclist fleed at 100 mph+ through Canyon Country, then crashed into a curb after cops try to pull him over yesterday on Soledad between Sierra & Camp Plenty. SIGNAL, KHTS via SCVNEWS
  • Speaking of Soledad, want to make it look better and less -how we say- chaotic? Well then, the Soledad Corridor Plan meeting is for you; City Briefs says the plan "does not propose any new development, but serves as a planning tool to guide future changes when desired by property owners." Lyons got corridored before Soledad yet we're still alive and kicking down here. I have no doubt Soledad will retain its quircky charm and status as home to the world's most interesting strip mall even after it gets corridored by the City. Meeting is on January 15. CITY BRIEFS
  • Great piece about two Southern California men -one here in the SCV- who are now finalists in a Doritios Superbowl commercial contest. The pair could win $1 million if their ad gets the popular vote, but Chris Capel, one of the ad creators, says he's not even interested in the money: he wants to boost his career potential.   • Bye Bye SCE bills: More jaw-dropping numbers on solar panels in the SCV courtesy of Luke Money in the Signal today. “Probably within the next few years virtually everything that will be built housing-wise will be equipped with photovoltaic systems or some other means of producing electricity,” says one City building and safety official. Stephen Daniels and all these other "candidates" seem to be the same person. An extremely vague idea about civic matters and an inability to explain why they want to hold the office other than some catchphrases. However, every candidate can county on about 200-400 votes, further diluting the anti-incumbent votes and strengthening the hands of the incumbents.

Unless folks just don't vote for the incumbents or bullet vote. Could Weste or McLean be the next incumbent not reelected?

There are a couple of strong challengers out there.
